Meghna News is a Bangladeshi online news platform. It is recognized as the first online news portal published from Meghna Upazila of Cumilla district and has become popular among online news readers. With the slogan “In search of truth, on the path to the future,” Meghna News formally began its journey on January 8, 2015 through its Facebook group. Its founder, Md. Ariful Islam, currently serves as the Chief Executive of Meghna News and is a lifetime member of the Bangladesh Online News Portal Association (BONPA).
In its early days, Suman Khan played a major role alongside Md. Ariful Islam in participation, promotion, and public reach. Over time, many others from home and abroad became associated with Meghna News, including local administrators, contributors, and supporters. The contribution of respected Mr. Al-Amin is also widely acknowledged.
By publishing reports on public concerns, education, culture, sports, anti-drug campaigns, and similar social topics, the organization gradually earned public support. Meghna News moved forward through many obstacles. As its popularity and credibility grew, a small group of people began to see the organization as a threat and started spreading misleading information targeting both Meghna News and its founder.
Some outside portals published confusing claims and attempted to create pressure against the organization. Other representatives of Meghna News also faced attacks due to reporting work. However, with public support, organizational cooperation, and Ariful Islam’s determination, these efforts failed, and Meghna News continued advancing at its own pace.
